Iran — U.S. military operations

Ongoing hotspot — records through 2026-09-18.

The United States struck Iranian nuclear facilities in June 2025. A broader U.S.–Israeli campaign began February 28, 2026. Shipping through Hormuz was disrupted after that campaign began; later truces did not end the confrontation.

September 9, 2026: Reuters reported renewed U.S.–Iranian attacks on shipping near the Strait of Hormuz.

This map uses Iran’s outline and a soft red interior; the shading does not indicate control of territory.

February 28, 2026 — Minab: a strike hit Shajareh Tayyebeh Primary School. Reuters reported that the UN mission attributed the attack to U.S. forces and recorded more than 150 deaths, including 120 children. The mission’s findings were published September 17.

Ukraine — war with Russia

← Global conflicts report

Ukraine — war with Russia

Ongoing hotspot — records through 2026-09-18.

Russia’s war in Ukraine continues. September reporting describes strikes on Ukrainian cities, Ukrainian attacks on Russian fuel infrastructure, and stalled peace efforts.

Comparable CSIS estimates, February 2022–December 2025: Russia 275,000–325,000 military deaths; Ukraine 100,000–140,000.

Over that same period, estimated casualties including killed, wounded and missing were about 1.2 million for Russia and 500,000–600,000 for Ukraine. These are estimates, not verified death registers.

A later CSIS estimate through June 2026 puts Russian deaths as high as 450,000 and total casualties at about 1.4 million. A matching Ukrainian update was not supplied in that study.

The purple Russia–Ukraine border is a geographic reference, not a current battlefront.

September 17, 2026: Reuters reported more than 20 people injured in Russian strikes across Ukraine, citing Ukrainian officials. Poland briefly closed two airports during attacks near its border.

September 14, 2026: Reuters reported that repeated long-distance Ukrainian drone attacks reduced Russian refinery output and contributed to fuel shortages. Ukraine says these attacks seek to raise the cost of Russia’s invasion.

Donald Trump

Republican Party

Head of state of United States of America

Summary

Foreign-government receipts: House Oversight Democrats reported at least $7.8 million in payments from 20 foreign governments to four Trump businesses, using limited records including Mazars material. This is attributed documented business revenue, not a calculation of Trump’s net personal profit or a court determination of illegality.

  1. House Oversight Democratic report and Mazars records, January 2024

Oversight comparison: The Biden comparison identifies two major Republican inquiry tracks. Trump-related scrutiny includes the Republican-chaired bipartisan Senate Russia inquiry; Curtis’s September 2026 family-business proposal remains a request in the reviewed material. Different scopes prevent a simple apples-to-apples ratio.
